Kodak Wratten filters in steps of 0.3 log units (0.3—3.0) are used, as they are nonpolarising. This is essential in order to ensure non-interference with polarised tests. It can be used for detecting and quantifying harmonious ARC and suppression in strabismus.
It is also used in conjunction with the polarised suppression test in Heterophoria to quantify sensory ocular dominance. The greater the log unit found to induce the appropriate end point, the deeper the sensory anomaly or dominance.
